The Bench up from Firhall Bridge has for some time been in a state of disrepair. Nairn residents had reported this on several occasions but there were no moves to have it overhauled. An entry on a Nairn social media page alerted Nairn River Community Council to an offer from a local sawmill, GM Forestry Ltd of Ardersier, to provide the timber for any repairs.
Nairn River Community Council accepted the offer. The timber was duly delivered by GM Forestry of Ardersier (https://www.gmforestry.com/) Permission to carry out the task was sought from The Highland Council and granted, along with an offer to provide the Green paint.
All the labour, all other materials and the highly technical transportation system was provided by the CC without any cost to the Community. You can see the ‘make over’ below.
