NICE

NICE (Nairn Improvement Community Enterprise) was formed in 2010 as a company limited by guarantee to facilitate the regeneration of Nairn Town Centre and its surrounding areas. It is recognised by Scottish Government as a Community Body under the “Right to Buy” legislation, and as such can work with local partners to support development of robust business cases to fund the purchase of local properties so that relevant “community assets” can be retained and enhanced for the benefit of the local community.

The company  has currently 9 directors who have agreed to serve without payment for their services and was established over 1000 members. Membership now stands at around 870 but we have ambitions to double that to more than10% of the Nairnshire area local population with a community led Local Place Plan on the table after 2 years of work. 10% of the Nairn population. Groups such as the Association of Nairn Businesses; and Auldearn Community Council have joined as Associate members. NICE has developed a vision for Nairn that seeks to find ways of achieving our aims and freeing up the value locked in local  property and assets including the assets of the Nairn Common Good Fund.
